On Sunday, 26 January, India made it to the semi-finals of the Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025 by defeating Bangladesh in a Super Six Group-1 match. In a rain-affected match, India achieved the target by losing two wickets in 7.1 overs.
Batting first, Bangladesh scored 64 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Vaishnavi Sharma once again starred for India, taking 3 wickets for 15 runs in her four overs, while the other bowlers supported her. She is now the joint-highest wicket-taker in the tournament with nine wickets to her name.
Target achieved in 7.1 overs
Undefeated in the tournament, India defeated Bangladesh in a rain-affected match at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. They reached the target of 65 runs in 7.1 overs with eight wickets in hand. In batting, opener Gongdi Trisha gave the women's team a solid start but was caught behind after scoring 40 runs off 31 balls. They had lost G Kamalini earlier but the pair of Sanika Chalake and skipper Nikki ensured India won without much trouble.
It became the third team to reach the semi-finals
Let us tell you that after Australia and South Africa, India has become the third team to reach the semi-finals. South Africa made it to the semi-finals by defeating Ireland in its first Super Six match in Group-2. After this, the Australian team easily defeated West Indies in its first Super Six match and made it to the last four. Australia is currently in second place after India in Group 1.

It is worth noting that teams have reached the Super Six with points and results from the group stage. India defeated Sri Lanka, West Indies and Malaysia in Group A and carried the results of their victories over Sri Lanka and West Indies to the Super Six, as they advanced to the next stage along with India from Group A.
