Bengal News: Meeting with the government fails, Bengal potato traders on strike from Tuesday

After the meeting, Lalu Mukherjee, Secretary of West Bengal Progressive Potato Businessmen Association, said that as per the earlier announcement, they will go on strike from Tuesday.
The failed meeting
There is a possibility of further increase in the price of potatoes in the retail markets of the state due to the strike. It is known that potatoes are currently being sold at Rs 30 to Rs 35 per kilogram. On Monday, the state's Agriculture Marketing Minister Becharam Manna held a meeting with potato traders and ice-house owners in Khadya Bhavan.
Surveillance at border checkpoints
The potato traders complained to him about the police stopping trucks carrying potatoes being sent to other states at border checkpoints. The minister did not give any assurance to stop the police action. After this, the minister requested the potato traders not to go on strike, which they refused.
A committee meeting was called
An important meeting of the state committee of the Progressive Potato Businessmen Association has also been called on Tuesday, in which further strategy will be discussed.
