Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Affairs Department Mohammad Ejaz Asad gave this information on Thursday.

He said that the state administration is committed to make the Panchayat Raj institutions in Jammu and Kashmir fully strong and effective. All necessary steps are being taken to ensure that the benefits of the state and central government schemes for the development of rural areas reach every eligible citizen.In some blocks the work is not up to expectations and all necessary measures are being taken to improve the work there. We have identified all those areas where there is an urgent need for improvement. For this a time-bound action plan is being implemented.

Audit of old Panchayat houses was done

Referring to the current status of sanitation facilities in rural areas, he said that Jammu and Kashmir is one of the few states in the country where door-to-door garbage collection has been started. Still a lot remains to be done in this direction, there are many challenges, which we are working to deal with. When asked about the condition of old Panchayat houses in the state, he said that we have conducted an audit of the existing Panchayat houses in the entire state. In this audit, their current condition and the facilities available in them have also been assessed. All the old and dilapidated Panchayat houses will be repaired and made fully functional. Their proper use will be ensured.

Health services will be strengthened in remote areas

Jammu Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo directed the Health and Medical Education Department to prepare a roadmap to ensure the presence of doctors in remote areas. For this, he also asked to increase other facilities including non-practicing allowance to the doctors.

He said that young doctors should be encouraged to join these areas. He said this in a meeting of the Health and Medical Education Department on Thursday. In this, apart from identifying the blocks facing acute shortage of doctors, ways to solve the problem were discussed.

Development work is going on in blocks and panchayats

Talking to journalists in Pulwama today, he said that I am very happy to inform that the Government of India has approved the construction of 500 new Panchayat houses in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that remarkable work is being done in various blocks and panchayats in the state.
